1. Referral to Neurosurgeon
Patient must first be referred to a proper surgeon who can preform the necessary operation
2. History and Physical
Lab Exams are preformed during this step. They can range from few to many depending on circumstances and operation.
3. Schedule is set in place for surgery
4. NPO set in place after midnight day before surgery
NPO is an abbreviation for not eating or drinking for a set period of time
5. Show up for surgery in the morning

6. Anesthesia provided, then patient sent to operating room for surgery
ICU visits are common afterwards for this type of surgery but can vary
7. Few days of recovery
Initial recovery takes place in the hospital
8. Discharged to floor, discharged to home
Once discharged out of the hospital, recovery program continues generally for a couple weeks. From here we hope of no complications
9. Success if all goes well
